A Synopsis Of Takeshi Kitano's Kikujiro

Takeshi Kitano is without a doubt one of the greatest living film directors. He got his start as a film director with the action film Violent Cop. Interestingly, he sort of stumbled into this job. He was hired to play a supporting role, when the director dropped out. Kitano took the reins of the project and reworked the comedic script into a much darker, more sombre film. He upped his own role to lead and then turned the story into something more akin to Dirty Harry, where it had previously been more along the lines of Lethal Weapon and other comedic action flicks. Kikujiro is worlds away from Violent Cop, and certainly one of the must download internet movies if you want to see what Takeshi Kitano is really all about.

Kikujiro is really something different, or was at the time, for Kitano. He had generally been creating violent gangster films about the Yakuza. He first moved away from that genre with a film about surfers. When asked why his new movie had no yakuza in it, he said "Well you know yakuza have to chop off their fingers on their left hand when they disobey orders. And surfers have to paddle their boards out to sea. If a yakuza tried to surf, he would only paddle in circles." This sense of humor defines all of his work, including the sentimental, touching tale told in Kikujiro.

Kitano really has had an interesting career. Having once been a popular stage comedian, he stumbled into that career, too. He had been the emcee of a popular nightclub when the comedian of the night got sick and Kitano had to take over. The rest is history.

He would eventually become a popular TV show host, and even get a job designing his own video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System, called Takeshi's Challenge. The game followed a salaryman who gambles, drinks and fights the yakuza. It featured bizarre challenges such as holding a button for an hour straight and a last boss who takes well over one hundred thousand individual strikes to kill. It wasn't so much a game as it was a torture device, starting with a warning reading "This game was made by a man who hates video games!"

Kitano's odd sense of humor comes through very well in this movie. Kitano plays Kikujiro, an old man who fits the lovable loser archetype. He escorts a young boy across Japan to meet his estranged mother. He winds up blowing all their money at the tracks, thinking the kid is some kind of psychic after predicting three race winners in a row.

Later, Kitano is forced to beg for food for himself and the boy. He gets two sandwiches, hides one, and tells the boy "You eat, I don't need food right now". He then hides around the corner to eat his own sandwich. It's a funny scene, showing that he may be a lovable loser, but he really wants the child's respect and isn't afraid of lying to get it!

The movie is incredibly touching, with one of the best scenes being a dream sequence wherein the child recalls all the fun he's had with Kikujiro and their friends. It's about family, and how each group of people will define that word for themselves, outside of societal norms.

Sonatine is the Kitano film that is most well known in the US, but Kikujiro is without a doubt one of his very best.

Fight Club Can Be Found On Movie Downloads

The story follows an unnamed narrator portrayed by Ed Norton. There's a lot of "Office Space" type humor as he disparages his corporate white collar job, but there's an ugliness to it here, a darkness not present in Office Space. The movie is very deep and brooding and twisted, while at the same time sarcastic and nonchalant about the whole thing.

The narrator meets Tyler Durden, and the rest is history. Durden is a character who is completely free of the boundaries of society placed on most people. You know Kramer, from Seinfeld? He's kind of like that. Just, imagine how dangerous, frightening, and at the same time, inspiring, Kramer would be if you took him out of the sitcom setting and put him into a world where his actions could result in serious consequences.

Durden serves as the heart of the film in more ways than one. He and the narrator found the Fight Club, a get together where men can come and, well, fight each other. They let out all their frustrations and try to remember what it means to be a man by pounding their fists into one another. The movie follows the club as it grows into something more.

Once they start robbing banks and trying to take over the world, you see that the Fight Club is an expression of rage, that impotent rage that all men feel in a society that has castrated them in a symbolic way. The movie is outlandish and surreal, but this part isn't. That anger is very real, and it seems entirely realistic that, given the right catalyst, men really could just go crazy and start blowing things up for no good reason (heck some guys already do it).

The finale, the way the movie ties everything together, it's very interesting. It's kind of frightening, it's exciting, and it's kind of funny. In the end, all of the details about Durden and the Narrator are, if not quite solved, at least developed into something you'll enjoy thinking about.

Ed Norton has since gone on to do a lot of... Well, some people call it Oscarbait. He does a lot of movies that are more, you know, "indie", and he's controversial, not all directors enjoy working with him. However, in Fight Club, he really gives the performance his all, creating a character who is both an everyman and a completely unique individual, and the perfect contrast to Tyler Durden. Pitt as Durden is every bit as capable, and turns in one of his best performances.

The movie is violent and surreal, and winds up making an interesting statement on what it really means to be a man in the modern world. Many viewers misunderstand what the movie is really about in that... Well, it doesn't provide answers, as many fans think. It only provides the questions.

Mad Max 2 Synopsis

There's something to be said for action flicks, especially when they're as well crafted as The Road Warrior. This film was what really got Mel Gibson started on a global level. Mad Max saw him explode in the US, but since the film hadn't been released in the US yet, or throughout much of the rest of the world, it was The Road Warrior that made him a household name. It's definitely one of the must download movies of all time.

There aren't a lot of movies that work so well on so many levels, much less action films, which are typically used just to turn over a quick and easy profit at the box office. The movie is just, very, very strong on all possible levels. It's exciting, fun and has some moments of great humor, drama and humanity.

You know all about the movie, but it's worth a recap: The film takes place in a post apocalyptic Australian Outback where gas and water are both scarce. Mel Gibson plays Mad Max Rockatansky. He was a cop before the world fell apart, and now simply drifts from here to there, hoping to collect enough gas, food and water to stay alive from day to day.

Throughout his trials in the previous film, Max became just as much of a ruthless beast as the criminals he'd been chasing. Here, he's offered a chance at redemption, at becoming a part of society, or what is left of it, once more.

The movie is really just one big chase scene, only stopping here and there just long enough to give the audience a moment to catch their breath. While a lesser movie might have been made boring by all this action, in The Road Warrior, the action and the story are one and the same. Character and plot are both developed through action, not like the modern action flick where the fights and chases only get in the way of the story.

The movie is really all about the nature of heroism. It gets into the Joseph Campbellian concepts of mythology and comes out with a legendary story that many Australians consider "The Australian Star Wars" in terms of cultural importance. It is, of course, one of the national treasures of the Australian cinema, and one of the most successful films ever to come from that country.

It will likely go down as one of the great westerns and western influenced films. It should stand alongside Stagecoach in that regard, in that it really is just great action and physical heroism from beginning to end.

The movie is loud, spectacular, full of crazy characters and stunts, and, perhaps, one of the ten greatest films ever made, depending on how you evaluate films on a personal level. At the very least, it is one of the most well crafted and well told action stories of all time, and certainly belongs on your download queue if you haven't seen it yet.

Streets Of Fire Is Worth Seeing

Walter Hill really created a unique little flick with Streets of Fire. Hill actually came up with the film by simply thinking of everything he'd want to have seen in a great movie as a kid, and then writing a checklist, and making sure he hit all those moments as he banged the screenplay out. The result is one of the all time great eighties movie downloads.

The film follows a discharged soldier, Tom Cody, as he returns to town to save his old flame, pop star Ellen Aim, from Raven, the local biker gang leader. The movie blends fifties and eighties aesthetics into an all new fantasy environment, with dreamlike cinematography showing a lot of rainy streets, neon lights and classic cars.

The film is really defined by the music, with pop and rock songs blending the fifties sound with the eighties sound. The movie really sort of invents its own, all new genre of music, exemplified by I Can Dream About You, the doowop song that actually charted pretty high on the billboard. The soundtrack is worth a listen whether you like the movie or not.

The story is fairly stock, but because of the setting and music, it's really elevated to something more than just cliche. Rather, it's archetypal, the film is elevated to the level of fairy tale or legend by the stock characters and situations. The girl is kidnapped, the hero saves her, the end, sure, but it really does play out as a Rock and Roll fairy tale or fable.

Walter Hill has remained one of the great directors of the last few decades, but rarely gets the respect he really deserves as such. He continues to knock it out of the park with more recent films like Undisputed, and earns acclaim with each new film, but is rarely mentioned alongside Scorsese or Brian dePalma, which is truly a shame, as he's certainly one of the most entertaining directors alive.

Besides the rock and roll, the film also has a score written by blues legend Ry Cooder. The earthy, bluesy feel of his slide guitar offers a contrast to the glossy feel of the rest of the soundtrack, and drives home the "down to earthness" of Tom Cody, the character most frequently accompanied by Cooder's guitar score.

Streets of Fire makes an excellent double feature with The Warriors. Both take place in fantasy environments based on the "rough streets" setting, with street gangs, Rock and Roll, rainy streets and rumbles. The difference between the two films is that, while Streets of Fire takes that concept in a glitzy, colorful direction, The Warriors goes in more of a gritty, tough direction. You could also check out Rumble Fish if you want to check out one more movie with a great, weird style and a dreamlike setting.

There was to be a pair of sequels to the film, but, sadly, they never panned out, as Streets of Fire didn't exactly set the box office on fire. Today, the film has become a major cult classic, but it wasn't easy to market twenty odd years ago. Check it out and see why it's one of the all time coolest action flicks.

While its unclear when that off-handed dismissal by White became a viable reality, but regardless of how the deal came together Kimbo will be a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter. Some have speculated that White is something of a sadist, and is looking forward to embarrassing Slice even further. But this, of course, can't last very long as the world is soon invaded by ghastly distorted aliens from the far reaches of space. This is when the true test of their comradeship is determined. Will the boy and his new found android pal risk all to protect the earth? Will they even be victorious?

At first it appears as if the robot will be victorious and shelter the world from the invading monsters, but all is not well. The invading creature is made from a exceedingly volatile substance, and if he is shot, the entire planet will be smashed. So shooting the alien dead is not an alternative for our commanding android idol. He must react to the worldwide hazard with drastic measures indeed.

And in a gloomy story of self sacrifice, the automaton grabs the monster, and carries him deep into the depths of space, where he will pose no risk to the innocent populace of the world.
