Shadowboxer: Hit lady Mirren and her companion Gooding have an irregular personal and virtuoso relation, however he's unprepared for her to make the decision she does when proposed with a task that requires her to shoot a young pregnant woman. The 2 megastars are at their extremely best in this highly unconventional, vicious sleeper, best taken as stylized storytelling and not as a cut of genuine life. Brynner gives the acting job of a generation, and was rewarded with an Oscar reconstructing his Broadway role. Kerr is charming and her harmonizing voice was dubbed by Marni Nixon. Melodies contain "Hello, Youthful Lovers," "Getting to Know You," "Shall We Dance." Cast includes Deborah Kerr, Yul Brynner, Rita Moreno, Martin Benson, Terry Saunders, Rex Thompson, and Alan Mowbray. (133 minutes, 1956)

Defiance: Abrasive little film in reference to rootless blue-collar hermit Vincent, who tries to match up his dying kid's bone marrow on his own. He then tames a ferocious N.Y.C. road gang. Cast includes Jan-Michael Vincent, Craft Camey, Theresa Saldana, and Danny Aiello. (102 minutes, 1980)

The Thief of Bagdad: Extraordinary fantasy of local boy Sabu outdoing the sinister sorcerer Veidt in Arabian Days. The thief of Bagdad is a myth with remarkable resiliency. Cast includes Ludwig Berger, Tim Whelan, Michael Powell, Sabu, John Justin, Conrad Veidt, Rex Ingram, and Mary Morris. (106 minutes, 1940)

Big Shots: So-so adolescent venture in reference to an ignorant white boy and streetwise city black that come together and find themselves hired as hit men. Cast includes Ricky Busker, Darius McCrary, Robert Delight, Robert Prosky, Jerzy Skolimowski, and Paul Winfield. (90 minutes, 1987)

The Big Shakedown: Inconsequential story where we see Davis deny spouse Farrell while he joins mobster Cortez in counterfeiting cosmetics and other products, often with dire consequences to the buyers. 4 Ways To Practice Blues Guitar Properly

Practicing consistently and well is a much harder thing to do then it seems and there are many reasons why this is the case. Before I go on, I just want to say that bad practice habits affects even the most experienced blues players but it can be overcome with some help. Here are some of the issues that you may face when practicing and here are some usable solutions:

1) Problem: Getting stuck in a rut. This is a very common problem that affects nearly all guitarists at some point in time. You end up playing the same riff and lick over and over every time you play and you can't seem to move on to anything new.

Solution: I am a firm believer that you should aspire to play everything perfectly. But, if you are stuck on this one thing and you feel like practice is getting a little stale, you should really move on to something else that inspires you. It is so important to be inspired in your practice and you can always come back to something later when you are in the right mood.

2) Problem: Moving on to new skills too quickly. Also a very common problem, moving on too quickly will ultimately turn you into a "jack of all trades and a master of none".

Solution: This problem is the opposite of the last problem we looked at. You can now see that there is a balance between too much and not enough emphasis on perfecting a song. My suggestion is that you should master each thing before you go on to the next, but if you are finding a particular skill impossible to master and you are dying of boredom trying, maybe that skill is a little out of your reach. In this case, it is best to go back and learn something less difficult.

3) Problem: Becoming narrow minded in relation to the different areas of learning within musicianship. Some people get into the situation where they are practicing only one style and neglecting everything else.

Solution: Try splitting your playing into parts. For example, I might spend 5 minutes practicing new blues scales or chords, 10 minutes working on writing new music for myself and maybe 15 minutes learning a new song or part of a song. This way, your practice never gets boring and you can achieve a lot more.

4) Problem: Playing things too fast when learning them. This can cause you to become disillusioned with your playing when you are trying to learn a new song.

Solution: A fairly obvious solution here - Slow down. Most blues guitarists, including myself try playing a song or new skill at a slow speed before trying it at a fast pace. Always focus on accuracy and proper playing techniques over speed.

Practicing properly and regularly is the best way to become adept at any skill including playing the guitar. This requires discipline; not only discipline to practise on a regular basis, but also discipline to stay focused and on track when you are practicing. A great way to keep the passion in practicing is to jam to professional blues backing tracks. There are great compilations of jam tracks from companies such as 50Blues. If you keeping your passion in practice and stay disciplined with your playing you will develop into an excellent player over time.

The Best Of A Few Talented Actors

Everybody has their own opinion on great actors and great movies. Nobody is more right or more wrong because it is just an opinion nevertheless it is fun to have favorites and enjoy. Some actors have immense talent, and some actors are easy on the eyes and then there are the actors that are both. We admire some actors more for what they do off the screen than onscreen, as some of them are great individuals who use their fame and fortune to help others and the world.

Tom Hanks is a exceptional talent. It's is rather shocking to think that he got his start on a small and kooky TV show called "Bosom Buddies. Later he pulled off such great roles as Andrew Beckett, a gay lawyer who is infected with the AIDS virus and is fired from his conservative law firm because of the fear that they might also contract the disease. His first Academy Award was from that role back in 1993.

And in 1994, he became only the second actor in history to win back-to-back Oscars as he again took home the award, this time for "Forrest Gump". Certainly, there are also many other great movies from the funny and sweet like "Big" to the more serious like "Castaway" where his co-star was actually a volleyball.

Brad Pitt has been recognized as a pretty boy since he first captivated us all in "Thelma and Louise" back in 1991. Nonetheless, Brad hasn't always played the pretty boy roles. Back in 1995 he played a couple of disturbing characters in both of the movies "Seven" and "Twelve Monkeys". While his personal life sometimes seems to overshadow his movie roles the most impressive thing about Brad Pitt is his dedication to humanitarian causes throughout the globe. He has donated large sums of money to help many causes.

While Hurricane Katrina practically wiped out the whole city of New Orleans, Brad Pitt started the "Make it Right Foundation". The foundation was formed to aid in the redevelopment of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans. They build affordable and sustainable homes that are true to the diverse culture of the city of New Orleans. The purpose was to complete the building of the homes fast so that the residents could return to their homes as soon as possible. These things have been Brad Pitt's true success.

And that brings us to another great actor who is also known for his philanthropy. Paul Newman left us as he passed away this past year on September 26, 2008. During his life he entertained us with many great movies such as "Road to Perdition" in 2002, "The Color Of Money" in 1986, "Absence Of Malice" in 1981. He also played the leading role in the well known and much loved favorite "Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid" from clear back in 1969. Of course he played in a long number of other great movies too.

But like Brad Pitt, Paul Newman was also known for his charity. In 1982 with a colleague he created a line of food products called "Newman's Own". It started with salad dressing and ever since then it has expanded to include pasta sauce, lemonade, popcorn, salsa, cookies and other items. Newman established a policy that all of the proceeds from Newman's Own, after taxes, would be donated to charity. As of early 2006, the business had donated in excess of $250 million.

Our favorite movies and favorite actors and actresses may change from time to time. We may love them for their flair or for other reasons but now that we can download full length, high quality movies from the Internet instantly we don't have to miss any more of the movies that we desire to see.

Acoustic Guitar Tabs - Know Them And Play Better

In order for you to play the acoustic guitar properly, you need to understand a little bit more about guitar music. Firstly, the musical notations used for when playing the guitar or any other stringed instrument are different from those used for other musical instruments. Where as other musicians use staffs, notes, note values, ledger lines and key and time signatures in order to play music. A guitar player will only use musical notations referred to as tabs. The main advantage to be had from using acoustic guitar tabs is that you can learn to play this instrument without actually having to learn to read music as well.

When you actually look at any acoustic guitar tabs, you will be viewing a diagram that shows you the strings on the instrument. The lines on the diagram that you see in front of you represent the strings with the first string (top of the instrument) being the uppermost line and the sixth string (bottom on the guitar) being the bottom most line. As well as the lines on the diagram, you will see numbers and these represent the various frets on the guitar neck and which you will need to play. However if a zero (0) appears on the line then this means that the string needs to be left open whilst an X tells you that the string needs to be muffled.

If you are unsure as to what we mean by the Fret, this is the area that is located between the two metal bars that are on the neck (fingerboard) of the guitar. Normally a good quality guitar will have between 21 and 24 frets on it. In order to know which fret you need to place your finger a dot appears on the diagram in front of you.

However when looking at these tabs you notice that all of the numbers appear on the same line one after another and the same goes for which fret you need to be by. Then all you have to do is place your fingers in the location required and then just pluck that one string and no others. This tab clearly shows that you must only play this note and this one note only.

Yet if you find that as you, look at the diagram there is a number located on each line and they are then above one and another, this tells you that you must play all of these notes together. In order to do this rather than pluck at the strings you need to strum all six of them at the same time.

But as well as the tabs mentioned above there are other types that you will have to learn about including hammer on, bends, slides and pull offs if you want to be read acoustic guitar tabs. The letter "H" denotes the Hammer On. Whilst Pull Offs are denoted by the letter "P" and Bends by the letter "B" as for slides these are denoted by a slash "/". So for example, you may see a notation for a Hammer On, which reads 7h9 on the diagram in front of you.

Once you have learnt the basics of reading tabs, carry out a search online for easy acoustic guitar tabs. Then select a very basic song that you know well and start to play around with it. However, it is important to note that reading and then playing acoustic guitar tabs does take some getting used to. But you will be surprised at just how quickly you can pick them up once you know how to read them.

If you can when practicing, the tabs for a particular song listen to it at the same time. By doing, this you will find actually, learning acoustic guitar tabs becomes much easier, even if you think you know the song already. Being able to listen as well as read the tabs at the same time will make the process of learning them much easier, but you will be able to better understand the detail and rhythm of the song that you are playing.

Using acoustic guitar tabs in order to learn how to play this instrument will be much more fun than you first thought. You will soon find that you are able to play several different songs all of which you can then use to entertain friends and family as well as yourself.
