Go back in time and watching a movie at home meant that you had to get the VCR out and watch it on a TV that was more console than screen. To get a better view of the screen, kids would lie on cushions on the floor right in front of the TV. Sometimes that was the only way they got to see anything!. The thought of watching a movie at home today on anything less than a 30" screen is almost comical.
When we heard about a new movie release, the option of watching it at home on our own TV was just never an option. Part of the reason was that movies took many months to come out on video, and even then the home movie experience was not great. When my dad was in a particularly good mood, he would round up the whole family and whisk us off to the local drive-thru.
The drive-thru was actually something that was truly special. In summer, watching a movie in a drive-thru had a magical feel about it. From the moment we got into my dad's Chevy, all the kids felt we were going on a real adventure. The kids would be on the roof and mom and dad would be on either the hood or snuggling in the front seat.
Today, there are quite a few more options available to us than having to take the family out to see the latest and greatest movie. The latest home theater systems provide a fantastic movie watching experience, and after you initial outlay for the system, there's nothing more to spend. Furthermore, instead of having a 50" TV that was all wood, we now have screens that make use of every square inch that they are allotted.
Surround sound has also taken home viewing to a different level. This is something that was considered a novelty in our childhood days and now it is tough to find a home that does not have a surround sound system inside of it. This allows movie viewing with the true theater experience and really makes the thought of paying about $10 for a movie all but out of the question.
Of course, there is also the Internet to consider. While earlier years offered only the cinema to see a new movie, we can now get movies online in a flash and watch them on our computer if we want to. The entire process of watching a good movie has gone from an event to the most convenient method that we can find. Technology has truly changed this entire experience.
Instead of piling the family into the car and spending what can easily amount to around $100 to see a simple movie, why not Download Robin Hood Movie Online Free and save money. If going to the movies is a regular family activity, in just a few short months, enough money can be saved to have a home theater that would have the neighbors twisting in envy. Then instead of having to wait a week or month to see the next hottest release, it would just be a matter of flipping on the tube and settling in for a night of home entertainment.
