Many times there are songs that define a couple and when you get married, the picking of a song to dance to can be a difficult decision. You don't want something overly trendy and picking something too classic can mean picking something stale. One facet that should never be part of this decision is "we should tell the DJ what we decided." Weddings are a grand occasion and should be treated as such with the renting of a party band.
DJs are everywhere these days and it is a profession that anyone can join with only their laptop and the purchase of a DJ sound kit. It is essentially something that a small child could do and yet many locally famous DJs charge huge amounts of the privelege of having them at your occasion. When it is a wedding, it is the bride and grooms day and no one elses. Why deal with the ego?
That isn't to say that there is no place for the skill set of a DJ, which again, you can easily emulate yourself. House parties and nightclubs are perfectly fine venues for playlists, but weddings need more prestige.
Party bands are already more impressive because they are more than just one person with their laptop, they are a group of highly trained and skilled musicians. With real musicians they can transform the songs you already know into something more amazing.
While some may say that party bands are antiquated and DJs are the way to go, when has it ever been acceptable to outsource our entertainment into the hands of someone whose job we can easily replicate.
Learning instruments and becoming proficient is a lifetime occupation and many musicians, unfortunately, are being cast aside in this technological age but nothing can replace the sound of life instrumentation. Weddings and similar occasions are the perfect venue for a party band.
Prepping for a wedding takes time and about all money, but the price of a band does not have to be sky high and can run anywhere from $500 to $5,000. Whatever price you want to afford you can find a great band to suit your needs and also, they come with all of their own sound and PA equipment, which is not always the case with DJs. Bands are self sufficient.
Don't let some DJ charge you hundreds to thousands of dollars to appear at your wedding and play songs you hear on the radio, instead get a live party band and make your wedding reception as fun as any concert you've ever been to.
