Looking For A Remarkable Film? Check Out These Great Film Commentaries

By Rubin Sutton

Generally often you will find a generous collection of films that you can download to observe on your computer or every so often they are streamed at once to the server. They often proffer software that allows you to burn the motion picture to a disc so you can view from your television set.

They Were Expendable - One of the finest and most underrated of all WW2 films, based on the actual tale of America's PT boat battalion in the Philippines throughout the early nights of the battle. Heartrending, exquisitely detailed production photographed by Joseph August under Ford's unique hand, with genuine-life Naval Officer Montgomery. Cast includes Robert Montgomery, John Wayne, Donna Reed, Jack Holt, Ward Bond, Leon Ames, Jack Pennick, and Tom Tyler. (135 minutes, 1945)

The Stepford Wives - A current remake of the 1975 film of the same name. The town of Stepford, on opening appearance, seems like the ideal place. Everything in Stepford seems perfect. Newcomers to Stepford Joanne and Bobbie are beginning to wonder what is going on. Will they figure it out before it is too late?

A Few Good Men - Two Marines are being held responsible for the death of a fellow marine. They claim they were ordered to discipline private Santiago, and his demise was not intended. Lt. Daniel Kaffee will try to save the marines and get to the bottom of the case.

Airheads - 3 metal heads with toy guns unwillingly take a radio station hostage, wanting to get play for their one and only demo tape. Not precisely the most difficult subject to parody, although the script is weak anyway. A fairly vigorous direction and compact running time help a bit. (91 minutes, 1994)

Vertical Limit - Peter Garett, an ex mountain climber who gave the sport up after his father died unfortunately while climbing, discovers himself in a difficult situation. His sister and climbing partner have been trapped in a deep crevasse while trying to climb the famous K2 peak. He is one of the only people capable of even attempting a near impossible rescue. Time is of the essence, as the trapped climbers will soon freeze to death.

It Takes All Kinds - Fair triple-cross drama in reference to Miles' guarding of Lansing after the man accidentally kills a sailor in a fight in Australia. Cast includes Vera Miles, Barry Sullivan, Sid Melton, and Dime Sugg. (98 minutes, 1969)

The Devil Wears Prada - Miranda Priestly( Meryl Streep) is the central force in the fashion industry. When, Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway. by total luck, falls into a job as Miranda's assistant, she seems to have the opportunity of a lifetime. Working for the insufferable Miranda proves to be insufferable, no matter what the rewards might be.

My Son the Fanatic - Author Hanif Kureishi once more studies a Pakistani coming to terms with his life in England. In this case it's a taxi driver Puri who's separated from his spouse, and whose child is dissenting contrary to him for rationales he could not realize. Cast includes Om Puri, Rachel Griffiths, StelIan Skarsgard, Akbar Kurtha, Gopi Desai, Harish Patel, and Bhasker Patel. (89 minutes, 1997)

Movies And MP3

Movies and MP3 files are already compressed with near maximum capacity. Repacking them would just create larger files and increase decompression time. Ripped movies are still packaged due to the large file size, but compression is disallowed and the RAR format is used only as a container. Because of this, modern playback software can easily play a release directly from the packaged files, and even stream it as the release is downloaded (if the network is fast enough).

MP3 and music video releases are an exception in that they are not packaged into a single archive like almost all other sections. These releases have content that is not further compressible without loss of quality, but also have small enough files that they can be transferred reliably without breaking them up. Since these releases rarely have large numbers of files, leaving them unpackaged is more convenient and allows for easier scripting. For example, scripts can read ID3 information from MP3s and sort releases based on those contents.
