They escape and are off to the next town to collect on the higher price for Tuco's head.
Our other main character, Angel Eyes is also a bounty hunter, but not so kind. He kills for money, and truly has a cold heart. The three become opponents when a stash of stolen gold gets in all of their sights.
The three characters all learn about a stash of stolen gold with Blondie and Tuco each knowing a part of where the cache of money is. Angel Eyes knows that they know where the money is. They all want to get rich.
All three men want the gold. Tuco knows half of the location of the gold, Blondie the other half, Angel Eyes is tracking them down.
