It Definitely Pays To Buy A Top HDTV Antenna

By Jeff Smith

There are many good reasons why it will pay for you to go out and purchase a good HDTV antenna. If you already have a HDTV at home and one that has a tuner built into it, then you will get a lot of joy out of purchasing this particular kind of antenna. This is because such an antenna makes it easy for you to view all your favorite local programs in HD without being charged for it.

It is surprising how the purchase of a low cost HDTV antenna can help you enjoy the best of high definition programs. Of course, to receive your free of cost high definition signals, there are certain stipulations that have to be met.

To begin with, you must first ensure that you are located in a part of the country where over the air broadcast signals can be received. Once this is known, then you need to check that your local broadcasters have the ability to send signals in high definition.

It is also important for you to own a good HDTV which must also have a built in ATSC tuner or it should be HD ready and in addition it must also be hooked up to an external receiver. Fortunately, most Americans live in places that can easily receive over the air broadcasts.

If however, your home is situated in a remote rural part of the world, then it is quite possible that that area will not receive over the air broadcasts. But, this can also happen in urban areas where large sized buildings as well as physical objects can block reception of such signals.

Even so, it is good to know that major broadcasting TV stations have the ability to broadcast HD signals. In fact, it is quite rare for these stations to transmit analog signals except of course when they are broadcasting programs during the daytime.

The latest television models are of course equipped to receive HD programming. This means that if you have purchased your HDTV antenna recently, chances are indeed bright that there will not be any real difficulty in receiving HD programs on your set.

Once you have found out that you meet minimum requirements to receive HD programs it is then time for you to go out and buy the right HD antenna. You should also pick the antenna carefully and it should suit your needs and budget. There should not be any problem in finding a good such antenna in a local electronics shop or even at an online shop.

Last but not least, you must then install this antenna in your home. If you already own a cable or even a satellite HD receiver, then you can connect your antenna to this and then receive the free to air HD programs through the receiver.

Movies And MP3

Movies and MP3 files are already compressed with near maximum capacity. Repacking them would just create larger files and increase decompression time. Ripped movies are still packaged due to the large file size, but compression is disallowed and the RAR format is used only as a container. Because of this, modern playback software can easily play a release directly from the packaged files, and even stream it as the release is downloaded (if the network is fast enough).

MP3 and music video releases are an exception in that they are not packaged into a single archive like almost all other sections. These releases have content that is not further compressible without loss of quality, but also have small enough files that they can be transferred reliably without breaking them up. Since these releases rarely have large numbers of files, leaving them unpackaged is more convenient and allows for easier scripting. For example, scripts can read ID3 information from MP3s and sort releases based on those contents.
